Church Street fest calls for fun-makers
Belfast — The 31st Church Street Festival Parade featuring the zany MythWeavers Theater Company and Friends will step off Saturday, Oct. 5, at 11 a.m. The annual event celebrates the harvest and creativity of Waldo County and welcomes everyone of any age to participate.
Anyone who makes craft items to sell, have unique items to sell, are fundraising for a community organization or have harvest or food items to sell can add a table along Church Street in front of the First Church and Crosby school from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (setup starts at 9 a.m.) There is no charge to join this big Pink Elephant Sale. Organizers encourage community groups to bring a game for children to play or demonstration or information tables.
The parade theme this year is “Happily Everafter.” There will be a MythWeavers Theater performance on Church Street after the parade, plus games and special contests with prizes for children. The Win-A-Cake Walk and chalk mandala will be back.
The parade will begin at 49 High St. This year’s costume parade will feature all the dragons that live in the barn; and all the princesses and princes and related entourage who wish to escort the dragons downtown. There is also a contest for poets. Everyone is invited to enter an original sonnet or limerick on the theme of “Happily Everafter”; the best in each category will win notoriety and a special prize.
Anyone with questions or who would like to help in creating the festival fun is encourage to call Mary Weaver at 338-5777 or send email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
