Searsport — The following is a synopsis of the 2012 Searsport District High School boys soccer team:

Coach/years coached current team: John Frye, fifth year.

Last year's record/playoff information: 1-12-1, 17th in Eastern Class C. The Vikings did not qualify for the playoffs.

Roster: Seniors Tim Chase (midfield), James Harvey (halfback), Darren Harriman (sweeper), Austin Bean (goalie), Alex Woodward (wing), Jake Kenniston (halfback), Jordan Bleakney (fullback), Buddy Ellis (goalie/wing), Kaleb Cook (fullback), Dylan Sieber (wing) and Willis Reed (fullback); junior Zach Beaudry (wing); sophomores Jake Powell (fullback), Dylan Grant (halfback) and Jay Burkard (halfback); and freshmen Troy Reynolds (wing), Dean Evans (fullback), Bryce Shorey (halfback) and Cody Parks (fullback).

Graduation losses: Jason Brooks and Forrest Pacholski.

Significant impact players: Harriman, Bean, Chase, Seiber, Burkard and Reynolds

Team strengths: Defense, speed and passing.

Team goals: To finish with a .500 record and qualify for the Eastern Class C playoffs.

Top league opponents: Orono and Bangor Christian.

Outlook: The Vikings still may have a little way to go if they hope to be in the mix for the postseason, but the squad includes a nucleus of talent along with a pair of transfer students — Cook from Belfast and Sieber from Bucksport — who could be difference makers.
