Deer cause accidents in Morrill and Northport

Waldo County Sheriff’s deputies responded to two separate accidents after deer ran into the road in Northport and Morrill, respectively.

The first accident was reported Tuesday, March 26, while Marguerite Woitko, 50, of Searsport was traveling south on Route 1 in Northport at 5:48 a.m. when a deer ran into the side of her 2002 Ford pickup truck from the northbound lane.

Woitko’s vehicle suffered minor damage to the driver’s side portion of the vehicle and the deer ran off after the collision, according to the accident report. Woitko was not injured as a result of the accident.

The second accident was reported Thursday, March 28, when Edith Konesni, 61, of Appleton, was traveling north on North Main Street in Morrill at 6:55 a.m. A deer ran across the road from the southbound lane and Konesni struck the animal with the front end of her 2012 Honda, according to the accident report.

Konesni was not injured in the collision and her vehicle suffered only minor front-end damage.
