On Saturday, Sept. 8, there will be three bike rides to promote awareness of Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes; to encourage exercise; and to raise awareness of the importance of eating healthy and staying active.

RIDE (Reliable Information about Diabetes Education) will be held at the Education Center at the hospital. The advanced ride, which is approximately 25 miles, will start at 9:30 a.m. Bikers will head down Route l to Lincolnville Beach and then back, taking a side route into Bayside.

The beginner ride is approximately 5 miles and will go through some shady neighbors, down to the footbridge and then back along the waterfront. It starts at 9:45 a.m.

The Family Fun Ride is approximately 1 miles and is in the area of the hospital and Diabetes Education office on Northport Ave.

The fee is $15 per person or $20 per family with free T-shirts for riders.

Proceeds will go toward scholarships for Diabetes Education.
