Drew H. Cook

Apr 18, 2014

Drew H. Cook, of Belfast, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2014, after a long illness. Drew was born on January 21, 1935, in Albion, but spent a majority of his life in Belfast. On October 24, 1953, he married the love of his life, Charlene Berry and they were blessed to celebrate 60 years of marriage this past fall.

Drew was a truck driver for most of his life and liked to brag that he knew every road in the state of Maine. He also loved to box in his younger years and achieved Golden Gloves and was a Middleweight Boxing Champion. Drew loved the sun and was happiest on the hottest of days. He was an avid hunter, who loved the solitude and meditation of the woods almost as much as he enjoyed the prize of a deer, turkey or partridge. Drew loved singing and listening to country music, dancing in his kitchen, traveling with his family, barbecuing, and laughing long and hard with his family. More than anything, Drew loved his family. He was a devoted father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was the type of person who not only showered his children and grandchildren with love, but also taught them the value of compassion, charity, honesty and kindness. We know that although we will miss him deeply, we will carry him with us always.

Drew was predeceased by his parents, Albert and Cadie Cook; sister Josie; brothers Jim, Paul, Donald, Elmer and Claude; and son, Andrew Cook. He was survived by his wife, Charlene Cook; his daughter Pamela Hubbard and her husband Carl Hubbard; granddaughter Mandi Thomas and her husband Scott Thomas and their children Dylan Locke, Rowan Locke and Pearl Thomas; grandson Isaac Hubbard and his children, Zen Hubbard and Emma Hubbard; grandson Aja Cook;  brother Robert Cook and his wife Marilynn; sister Gladys Bennett; sisters-in-law Cathy Watson and Audrey Cook; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at Stonecrest Events on Route 137 in Waldo on April 26 at 11 a.m. A luncheon will follow.
