The Drinkwater fifth-graders wave goodbye to their gilled friends.

Drinkwater Elementary School's fifth grade completed the final step of their salmon study when they released 175 salmon fry into Wescott Stream. They, along with many other schools in the area, have been raising salmon as part of the federal Atlantic salmon restoration program. Their efforts were supported by RSU 20, the Perloff Family Foundation through the Maine Community Foundation, and the Belfast Bay Watershed Coalition.
