Earl 'Bill' Benner, 89
Belfast — Earl "Bill" Benner, 89, died peacefully Oct. 31, 2012, at his residence in Belfast. He was born July 26, 1923, in Belfast, the son of Spencer and Ruby (Scott) Benner.
Bill was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion. He began his career in the automotive business in Belfast working for many area garages. He opened Benner's Garage in 1956 and worked there until his retirement. The garage is still operated by his sons today. He enjoyed hunting, going to camp and his dog, Duke.
He was predeceased by a brother, Merle Benner.
Bill is survived by his wife of 71 years, Doris (Kelley) Benner; a daughter, Gloria Bailey; a son, John, and his wife, Alycia; a grandson, Shawn, and his wife, Susan; granddaughter Penny Bailey; grandson Aaron Mitchell; great-granddaughter Jayme Bailey, all of Belfast; a sister in-law, Melanie Benner, of Oklahoma; and his nephew, Dr. Benjamin Benner, and his wife, Jody, of Oklahoma.
