Elderly woman struck by vehicle on Congress Street

Police say driver did not see pedestrian

Belfast — Belfast fire, police and ambulance crews responded to Congress Street after a vehicle struck an 89-year-old woman shortly after 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18.

The woman was struck by a vehicle’s mirror while making her way along the side of Congress Street with the aid of a walker. Police said the woman suffered what appeared to be minor injuries and was transported to Waldo County General Hospital for treatment.

Police said the driver did not see the elderly woman on the side of the road at the time of the accident.

As of Friday, Sept. 21, no new details were available regarding the accident.
