Email newsletter to make comeback

Stockton Springs — Based on citizen feedback, Town Manager Courtney O'Donnell will resume producing monthly email newsletters for distribution to those who sign up to receive them.

"I've been approached multiple times about starting an email update list," she told selectmen May 11, adding the process would be relatively simple.

Initially, Selectman Peter Curley expressed concerns about the proposal. He described a previous email newsletter effort as "a nightmare" because there were frequent updates each day.

"It was totally out of control," he said. " ... It became a total gossip thing but I don't want to get into it."

O'Donnell assured him she only wishes to pursue a monthly newsletter and noted everything included each month also will be publicly posted elsewhere, as is currently done. She suggested including selectmen's updates in the newsletter as well to keep people informed but emphasized she intends use of the distribution list to be minimal.

Selectman Sarah Skolfield shared Curley's concerns and urged O'Donnell to keep the newsletter to a monthly distribution schedule.
