Swanville woman escapes serious injury in single-vehicle accidentVehicle on its side in the ditch
Belfast — A Swanville woman escaped serious injury after losing control of her vehicle and rolling it over in a ditch.
Emergency personnel responded to Swan Lake Avenue in Belfast shortly before 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, for a report of a woman and animal in a vehicle, which was on its side in the ditch.
Chief Jeff Trafton of the Waldo County Sheriff's Office said the driver, Meg Jackson, of Swanville, was traveling south on Swan Lake Avenue when her dog jumped into the front street, which distracted her and caused her to swerve over the center line.
Jackson tried to regain control of her 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee, but drove into the ditch where the vehicle rolled over and struck an embankment, Trafton said.
Trafton said the woman suffered non life-threatening injuries, but was unsure if she was taken to the hospital.
Belfast Public Works, fire and ambulance, as well as the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.
