Engman at River Arts’ West Gallery
Damariscotta — This month, River Arts on Route 1 is featuring the work of Liberty artist Kerstin Engman in its West Gallery. The public is invited to the opening reception for this special exhibition Saturday, Dec. 7, from 5 to 7:30 p.m., with an artist’s talk at 6 p.m.
Engman’s paintings are a study of the Midcoast landscape and still lifes that demonstrate her distinctive use of color, composition and application of paint. The 50-plus works in the show are primarily small oil paintings.
The artist offers a variety of intensive workshops throughout the year at River Arts including Color Theory in Painting; Figure Drawing and Anatomy; and Nature Drawing, in addition to her teaching schedule at the University of Maine in Orono.
Also on view is “Celebrating Color,” a juried group show that includes work from a number of Midcoast artists. River Arts is open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sundays. For more information, visit riverartsme.org.
