Winterport — Winterport Open Stage will open its 2016 fall production, the hilarious “Unnecessary Farce” by Paul Slade Smith, Friday night, Oct. 28, for a two-weekend run at the Samuel L. Wagner Middle School, Mountainview Drive.

In an effort to crack a case of suspected embezzlement, two cops must overcome their fear of the dark, guns … and the opposite sex. Complete with mistaken identities, thwarted lovers, unintentional innuendo and, of course, lots of slamming doors, this farce has more laughs than one can shake a doughnut at.

The show is directed by Brianne Beck and is recommended for mature audiences. Performances are Fridays and Saturdays, Oct. 28 and 29, Nov. 4 and 5; and Sundays, Oct. 30 and Nov. 6, at 3 p.m. General admission tickets are $8, $6 for students and senior citizens, available at the door only.
