Expert to Speak on U.S. Immigration
The plight of immigrants seeking to resettle in the United States will be the focus of a presentation by Staci Coomer of the Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service (LIRS) on Monday, March 13, from 10:30 am to noon at the Anderson Inn at Quarry Hill in Camden. Seating is limited, and registration is required by calling 921-6116.
Ms. Coomer will speak on LIRS efforts to resettle refugees in the U.S., as well as the potential impact of moves by the Trump Administration to limit immigration.
The speaker is vice-president for development, outreach, and communications at the Washington, D.C.–based Lutheran service. One of the largest refugee-resettlement agencies in the nation, the organization works to ensure social justice for refugees and migrants.
Coomer is well-known in Camden and throughout the Midcoast. Before joining LIRS, she served as a vice-president for Pen Bay Healthcare and as director of the Pen Bay Chamber of Commerce.
