|Jul 07, 2012|
Fathers and daughters, grandfathers and granddaughters, on July 7 at 1 p.m., take time out from your busy day to take a walk together. Venture out for a stream side hike at the Damariscotta Lake Watershed Association’s Davis Stream Preserve in Jefferson, led by Julia McLeod, Stewardship Coordinator and Educator at the Watershed.
The only rule? No MP3 players or texting allowed. Walk, talk, bond and enjoy each other’s company.
In 1990, DLWA purchased nine acres along the west bank of Davis Stream in Jefferson through a bargain sale from Jim and Barbara O’Halloran. This riverside acreage is protected under the terms of a conservation easement donated to the Watershed Association. A half-mile interpretive trail wends its way along the stream bank, offering visitors the opportunity to experience the variety of ecosystems found in the floodplain and upland forests.
Visitors are welcome to walk the trail at any time. Walkers can park at the Willow Grange and access the train from the road bordering the left side of the cemetery.
