Belfast — Former Ward 1 City Councilor Marina Delune was honored for her service Monday, Nov. 12, prior to the swearing-in ceremony for elected officials.

Mayor Walter Ash presented Delune with a plaque from the councilors, as well as a key to the city. Ash and the councilors thanked Delune for serving on the council and for her hard work.

Delune, who was emotional at times, thanked Ash and her former colleagues for acknowledging her service to the city, and for supporting her during her time as a city councilor.

During a telephone interview, Delune said she was completely surprised when Ash gave her the key and plaque.

"I love Belfast so much," she said. "I am just thrilled, absolutely thrilled."
