Former employee arrested for theft of 30-pack of beer from Tozier's Market
Searsport — A former employee at Tozier's Market in Searsport was arrested on several charges Tuesday morning, March 4, in connection to the alleged theft of a 30-pack of Bud Lite from his past workplace Sunday evening, March 2.
Benjamin Roy, 47, was arrested on charges of burglary, theft by unauthorized taking or transfer and criminal trespass following a brief investigation of the alleged theft.
Searsport Police Chief Dick LaHaye said the investigating officer, Dennis Remillard, suspected Roy's involvement after speaking with a witness at the store and reviewing the surveillance tapes.
LaHaye said the investigation did not indicate Roy left his job with the store on bad terms, and that changes in the work schedule seemed to be what led to Roy ending his employment there. LaHaye said when police asked him why he took the beer, Roy said he knew it was the wrong thing to do.
