Former Troy treasurer indicted for alleged $20,000 theft of town funds
Belfast — A Waldo County Grand Jury indicted a former treasurer for the Town of Troy this week after police arrested her June 19 on allegations she stole more than $19,000 from the town between the dates of July 1, 2012, and March 31 of this year.
Kathleen Mattingly, 56, of Troy, was indicted on a charge of theft by unauthorized taking. The indictment stated Mattingly took at total of $19,813.26 while in her official capacity as the town treasurer.
According to a press release from the Waldo County Sheriff's office, Mattingly's arrest was the result of a several week investigation into some missing funds reported from the Town of Troy. Mattingly was town treasurer from Jan. 2012 until March of this year.
At the time of her arrest, the sheriff's office stated Mattingly was cooperative with the investigation and posted a $10,000 unsecured bail following her arrest.
