Frankfort — A 21-year-old Frankfort man died at the scene of a single-car crash on Loggin Road Sunday night, May 26.

Waldo County Chief Deputy Jeff Trafton said Zachary Callahan of Frankfort was killed after the car he was driving left the road and rolled end-over-end. Callahan was ejected from the vehicle, Trafton said.

Trafton said police initially received a report from an eyewitness who stated they saw Callahan's vehicle as it "flew past them," a report that Trafton said came just moments before the crash.

Police are still investigating the crash, but Trafton said speed may have been a factor.

"Several witnesses said he was going well above the speed limit," said Trafton.

Trafton said an initial investigation of the scene showed the passengers side tire went off the pavement, and when Callahan turned the wheel to return to the roadway he over-corrected, causing him to leave the road on the left side.

Callahan was alone in the vehicle at the time of the crash, Trafton said.
