Free Insomnia Workshop Starts April 2
Are you one of the many that find yourself, night after night, wrestling and fighting for even small amounts of shut eye? Amy Libby, LCSW, and the Picker Family Resource Center will be offering Say Goodnight to Insomnia, a 6-week cognitive behavioral (CBT) program for the treatment of insomnia. The course will take place from 2 to 3:30 p.m. on Wednesdays beginning April 2 at the Picker Family Resource Center, located on the Pen Bay Medical Center Campus.
CBT for Insomnia is based on over 20 years of research and clinical practice by Gregg Jacobs, PhD, at Harvard Medical School and the University of Massachusetts, and is based on a central theme: insomnia can only be treated by addressing the underlying causes, changing thoughts and behaviors around sleep. Participants can expect to learn the biology of sleep and the stress response system, how to challenge sleep thoughts and behaviors, sleep scheduling, lifestyle habits, and relaxation techniques that improve sleep. Pre-registration is required due to space limitations. Register by calling 596-8950.
