Freedom man charged for growing marijuana, domestic violence terrorizing
A Freedom man was arrested April 15 on multiple charges, including growing marijuana in his residence.
The Waldo County Sheriff's Office was contacted by the Fairfield Police Department asking for deputies to arrest Brian W. Knight, 40, on a charge of domestic violence terrorizing. Deputies were also advised by Fairfield police that Knight was known to be growing marijuana in his home, Lt. Jason Trundy said.
When deputies arrived at Knight's residence, Knight met them at the door and deputies could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from the home, Trundy said. Deputies arrested Knight and when they spoke to another resident in the home, the resident allowed deputies to search the home.
A search of the home found 85 marijuana plants growing in the residence, Trundy said.
Knight was charged with domestic violence terrorizing, tampering with a witness, violating conditions of release and marijuana cultivation.
Trundy said the tampering with a witness and violations of conditions of release charges were added after deputies were again contacted by Fairfield police after the victim reported Knight was calling her from the jail to get her to drop the charges against him.
