Voice of Freedom:
Visited Cy Perry this past week at the St. Joseph’s Nursing Home in Waterville/Fairfield. My last visit was much better. He just wanted to sleep and hardly talked at all. It breaks my heart to see the people sitting in their wheel chairs, heads hanging down, sleeping with mouths open in the hallways and nobody there to visit them. Some are taken to the lunch room and just sit there and stare at their food. I tried to feed Cy, but he didn’t want anything.
Chimney Cleaning Time:
It’s that time of year, “get your chimney cleaned”. The Freedom Volunteer Fire Department will come and clean your chimney. There is no charge for this service, but they do take donations. Contact Fire Chief Jim Waterman.
I believe most of the road that needed to be paved have been done. Speaking about Greeley Road, it was a job well done and the weather held up. I have one complaint, I brought it up at the Selectmen’s meeting last week, I asked if it were possible to put a white line down the middle of the road so that on those many foggy nights, we can see where on the road we are. Sometimes it gets so bad, you can’t see your hand in front of your face. I’m probably asking for the impossible but I just had to ask. I even offered to get a couple of cans of paint and brushes and do it with a few others that are willing to help. Maybe one day! I just want to caution everyone, that when a road is newly paved, during a rainy day they can become very slippery, therefore, please drive according to the conditions of the road and not the speed limit. Job well done, Public Works!
We on Beaver Ridge, had to have the road graded due to all the rain, it was washing out the road. Wish something could be done about that too.
Fall is here and the leaves are turning into gold, gree, yellow, red, and shades of green. Enjoy what Mother Nature gives to us. Take the time and look and see how beautiful the area we live in is.
Unfortunately the “Mustangs” lost last week to MCI but that’s o.k. You can’t win every game. I just want to see the boys get out on that field and do their best but most of all to enjoy the sport and learn good sportsmanship!
Balki is missing in FREEDOM! Balki was newly adopted and escaped his new home on October 1. He is a Shih-Tsu/Yorkie cross lost in a new and very rural location. He is very shy and likely very scared. DO NOT CHASE! We need everyone looking for this little guy. He is wearing a yellow collar with faux stones and a heart shaped tag but the information on the tag is not clear. If seen, use calming signals (get down very low or lay flat and attempt to lure with food.) Please proceed with caution as Balki may nip being so frightened. Call Tammy with any information at (207) 382-3168 or (812) 318-4893.
Please keep your eyes open for this dog and Dakota (the Collie) who still hasn’t been found. But we don’t want to give up. I am so convinced that there is a ring of dog snatchers! It’s been bad in Maine and in New Jersey.
Have a great week, and enjoy the weather!
