As of this writing, I am looking out my window and seeing the falling snow. The latest report regarding this storm is that tomorrow (Saturday) we are in for blizzard conditions!
I hope everyone will stay safe and warm, including your pets. Make sure you have enough water, food, batteries, flashlights, candles, etc. If you need any kind of help, call on your neighbor. That’s what neighbors are for.

Nomination papers
The only nomination papers that were taken out for tax collector, etc. were Cindy Abbott; for treasurer, Erna Keller. Those positions are each for a one-year term.
Selectman Ron Price’s three-year term is expiring and he filled out his nomination papers to serve another three years.
Holiday:
The Town Office will be closed Monday, Feb. 18, because it is Presidents’ Day.
There are sales going on all over the place. Now is the time to buy anything, from an article of clothing to gold jewelry. If you are able to, it’s a good time to take advantage of these sales.
Voice of Freedom
Thursday, Feb. 14, is Valentine’s Day. Don’t forget to remember those you love with a token of your affection, like a box of chocolates or candy. Those items are traditional. Some suggestions are, take in a good movie, go out for a romantic dinner, or just remember to acknowledge that very special day.
Happy birthday
Cy Perry celebrated his special day spending time with his wife, Marilyn, and the attendants at St. Mary’s Nursing Home in Waterville. His room was filled with balloons; the attendants sang to him and served birthday cake. Hope you celebrate more years to come, Cy!
Lynn Hadyniak and Clint Spaulding (Selector) both celebrate their birthdays on Feb. 14. They share the same birthday, but different years.
I’m sure Clint will have a party at home with his family, an exchange of gifts and receive extra love on his special day. I think every day at the Spaulding household is a party. Have a great time, guys!
Lynn and her family will go out for a birthday celebration dinner and attend the Black Bears' hockey game up in Orono on the UMO campus.
Don’t forget that the last Friday of the month is Feb. 22, and that is the time for our monthly recyclable pickup. Please have your recyclables out by 7 a.m.
Get well
Harold Greeley is home from the hospital and is doing well. Feel 100 percent better soon, Harold.
Carol Richardson is recovering from knee surgery and is feeling better with each passing day.
I’m happy to announce that Freedom General Store Inc. has a Facebook page. It basically gives the temperature and the lunches that are being served on that day, among other things. It’s new!
Quote for the week
