From The Atlantic Motorcar Team - Deeply Saddened By News Of Village Soup Closing, Our Very Best Wishes For Staff - Most Appreciative For Your Efforts!
This is indeed a most sad day, for aside from the loss of position and income for 56 staffers and their respective families, the closing of Village Soup media certainly leaves a large void to be filled for those seeking an alternative news outlet in our midcoast.
We found the Village Soup concept, in particular the online components, both engaging and exceptionally refreshing, allowing a level of personal interaction far above what could be offered in the traditional news media. In many ways we did not just read the news, but also shared in the experience of reporting it, engaging both writer and reader.
In an ideal world, perhaps the web components could be salvaged and kept viable, should that prove economically feasible. So much of our media has already transitioned to an online format today, we would imagine that such a concept would enjoy a strong following. As a member of the midcoast professional and business community, we think you'd find a most warm reception for such a concept.
On behalf of the Atlantic Motorcar Center team, we both thank and commend you and your staff for the fine job and exceptional public forum you've provided for your readers and local Maine business.
Cordially,
Bruce J. Howes
President, Atlantic Motorcar Center
