Bucksport — The Searsport boys basketball team continues to eye a berth in the Eastern Class C playoffs, but will have to rebound from a recent rough patch if the Vikings hope to earn an invitation to the dance.
The Vikings dropped their second straight game Jan. 17, falling 57-42 to Bucksport, dropping the two-game season series to the Golden Bucks.
Bucksport led 20-13, 32-19 and 40-27 at the quarter breaks.
Leading the Vikings were Dillan Moody and Buddy Ellis with nine points apiece, while Troy Reynolds added seven; Jake Powell and Austin Bean, both six; and Jake Keniston, five.
For Bucksport, Sam Stearns tossed in 14 points, while Gabe Stearns added 10; Asher Bowden, eight; James Osgood, seven; Mitchell Burgess and Josh Gray, both six; Chris Chaffee, four; and Alec Dyer, one.
The Vikings were 7-of-10 (70 percent) from the foul line, while the Golden Bucks were 11-of-28 (39 percent).
In the Maine Principals' Association Heal Point Standings for Eastern Class C, Searsport (3-6, 8.9506 points) is 12th, while Houlton (12-0, 60.8025 points) is first in the 17-team region. The top 11 teams qualify for the playoffs.
