Grand jury indicts couple accused of heroin trafficking
Belfast — A Waldo County Grand Jury has indicted a Belfast man and an Islesboro woman on charges stemming from their arrest July 10, at which time police accused the pair of selling heroin out of a Belfast motel room.
The grand jury indicted Asgard Tarik Gilbert, 39, of Belfast, and Anna Congdon, 24, of Islesboro, on charges of unlawful trafficking in scheduled drugs, unlawful possession of scheduled drugs, illegal possession of hypodermic apparatuses and criminal forfeiture of $1,020 after Maine Drug Enforcement agents raided the couple's room at Admiral's Ocean Inn in Belfast.
Gilbert and Congdon were both charged with selling the drug after MDEA agents and Maine State Police Troopers executed a search warrant at motel room, according to a press release from Maine Department of Public Safety Spokesman Steve McCausland.
Seized from the room were 100 bags of heroin, 36 Oxycodone pills, digital scales and the $1,020 in cash.
Drug agents say the couple was intending to sell the heroin in Waldo County.
Both were taken to the Waldo County Jail where bail was set at $250 for Congdon and $10,000 for Gilbert.
