Greenberg helms MWPA workshop
Damariscotta — Maine Writers & Publishers Alliance will offer a poetry workshop titled Free Range Poetry: The Fine Art of Making a Mess with Belfast’s Arielle Greenberg Saturday, March 8, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Firehouse Center, 5 Bristol Road/Route 129. Maine Coast Book Shop is a co-sponsor of the workshop.
In this one-day workshop, attendees will look at examples of poems that succeed in uniting the mess with the measured; talk about the contemporary “elliptical” poetry aesthetic; and make new poems from a series of exercises designed to get writers ranging more freely in their poem-writing.
Greenberg is a former associate professor in the MFA and undergraduate poetry program at Columbia College Chicago and current faculty in the University of Tampa’s low-residency MFA program. Twice featured in the Best American Poetry series, she is a MacDowell Colony fellow and the author of three nationally published poetry collections. Greenberg also is a literary critic and scholar and regular columnist for the American Poetry Review. To learn more, visit ariellegreenberg.net.
