Habitat for Humanity of Waldo County’s popular Café Italia will be held Saturday, April 12, and there is an exciting new aspect to the event.

Area employees have put together themed baskets that will be raffled off. Raffle tickets are $1 each, six for $5 or 15 for $10. Among the baskets that have already been delivered are a Keurig coffee maker with a variety of coffees from the employees at Mathews Brothers; a basket of more than $100 worth of cleaning materials and equipment that will make your vehicle sparkle like new from Dutch Chevrolet; a large basket of pet supplies from EBS; and beauty supplies from the Angela Austin Beauty Lounge.

Many more baskets are currently being filled. The baskets will be on display and tickets will be available for purchase during business hours at the Belfast Area Chamber of Commerce. On April 12, the baskets will be on display at the Waldo County Shrine Club and the winning raffle tickets will be drawn for each basket.

Café Italia will once again feature several types of pasta, sauces and extras, such as meatballs, sautéed vegetables, chicken and sausage. Appetizers will be served from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. while attendees view the baskets, followed by dinner at 6 p.m., beginning with a salad and bread and ending with dessert. Attendees are invited to bring their own wine or to enter the wine raffle.

Tickets are $20 each and may be purchased from any Habitat board member, at Mailloux and Marden Law Office or by calling 338-2344.
