The fall season has arrived, the grape harvest is underway, and on Saturday, October 5th Savage Oakes Vineyard and Winery will host their 9th Annual Grape Harvest Festival.
Guests are invited to join the picking crew to help harvest the grapes and watch them being crushed and processed. Savage Oakes will be harvesting their easy picking, flavorful Cayuga grapes used to make their award winning Georges River White. Picking will begin at 9am and continue throughout the day until it is done.

At 1:00 there will be a presentation by Warren sculptor Jay Sawyer.  In early 2013 Sawyer exhibited a sculpture of the small letter e created with iron he salvaged from the Georges River Woolen Mill.  For a bit of pun the piece was titled Iron "e".    Ironically, the response was overwhelming.  People wanted a sculpture for each letter of the alphabet.   Sawyer has a good start on his "Sculpture Soup" series and will share several with those in attendance.

At 2:30 David Spahr will present his talk on mushroom foraging and preparation. David has been foraging mushrooms since 1972 and has written a book, Edible and Medicinal Mushrooms of New England and Eastern Canada. David will cook up some samples of Maine mushrooms. Copies of his book will be available for purchase.

Jay, who has an appreciation for natural beauty and for not throwing anything away, has merged these attributes into his art. Made entirely of salvaged material, each piece has its own unique story. Take a walk and see what he has chosen to share. Jay Sawyer of Stemwinder Sculpture Works & Gardens of Warren will display a piece of art for all to enjoy.
