HeartSong in Music and Reflection series
Lincolnville — The United Christian Church invites the community to the second of a four-week series of music, selected readings and quiet reflection programs for the advent season Sunday, Dec. 9 at 4 p.m. The 19th-century church is located at 18 Searsmont Road/Route 173 in Lincolnville Center.
The Dec. 9 program is titled Share an Evening with HeartSong and features the harmonious a cappella singing of HeartSong, a community-based volunteer chorus that offers songs of comfort and peace for the infirm and ill, the dying, their families and caregivers. HeartSong sings in homes, nursing homes, hospitals and hospice settings in the greater Belfast area. The chorus is led by Mariah Williams of Liberty.
The Music and Reflection program will be led by the Rev. Susan Stonestreet. The "all sings" will be accompanied by flutist Mary Schulien and will include "Come and Find the Quiet Center," set to the 19th-century tune "Beach Spring"; the Austrian carol "Still, Still, Still"; and conclude with "Let there Be Peace On Earth."
The series will continue Dec. 16 with a Carols in the Round performance by the Mount View High School Chamber Singers and conclude Dec. 23 with a Taizé service. All are welcome. The church is fully handicapped accessible. There will be a free will donation. For more information, call Pastor Stonestreet at 763-4526.
