Weekend storm brings varying amounts of snow to the county
A winter storm that moved through the area Saturday, Feb. 23, and Sunday, Feb. 24, dumped varying amounts of snow across Waldo County.
According to unofficial totals compiled by the National Weather Service, snowfall totals ranged from a low of 3.5 inches in Winterport to as much at 12 inches in Belmont.
As the storm made its way towards the Northeast, forecasts called for six to 10 inches of heavy, wet snow to fall mainly during the day on Sunday. However, forecasts began fluctuating regularly Friday, Feb. 22 with snowfall totals expected to be between two and four inches.
The forecast again changed on Saturday when snowfall totals were bumped up to between three and six inches.
Another storm is expected to hit the state with the potential for heavy snowfall, and a chance of mixed precipitation along the coast, beginning Wednesday, Feb. 27, into Thursday, Feb. 28.

"According to the National Weather Service, the storm had the potential to dump six to 10 inches of heavy snow over the area." -- Apparently they were right after all. We got about 8-10" here.
They are saying now 3-6 for our area. That was as of 6 p.m. news.
