Heritage craft demos at Penobscot Marine Museum
Searsport — Penobscot Marine Museum offers three more Heritage Craft Demonstrations this month. Heritage Craft Demonstrations are free with museum admission.
Asha Fenn will demonstrate wheel-thrown and hand-built pottery techniques Saturday, Aug. 17, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fenn studied pottery at Manassus Clay in Virginia and is a full-time potter working in Stockton Springs.
Fiber artist Sandi Cirillo will demonstrate the ancient craft of wool felting Wednesday, Aug. 21, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Cirillo lives in Searsport and teaches fiber workshops throughout the Northeast.
Artist and woodcarver Michael Nahme will demonstrate traditional wood carving techniques from the 19th century Wednesday, Aug. 28, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nahme is also a sculptor and painter with a master’s degree from the Rhode Island School of Design, and his work has been shown in the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. He is the owner of Nahme Fine Art Gallery and Studio in Searsport.
