Hills contributes to ‘Owner’s Manual’
Belfast — Caitlin Hills, J.D., a lecturer in business communications and member of the RSU 71 school board, is among the contributors of a book to be released Tuesday, Oct. 18, by SAGE Publishing.
In “AMERICA, The Owner’s Manual: You Can Fight City Hall — And Win,” former U.S. Sen. Bob Graham and attorney Chris Hand offer a step-by-step guide to empower Americans to become change agents for the betterment of their communities. Each chapter focuses on a specific citizenship skill — such as persuading decision makers, forging coalitions or engaging the media — and provides instructions for citizens to use that skill in making government respond.
The chapters also provide practical advice from experienced civic experts, 35 Tips from the Pros offered by people who have served as governors, cabinet members, members of Congress, mayors, county commissioners, school board members, appointed officials, journalists, public finance professionals, political consultants, nonprofit leaders and business advocates. Hills’ piece is on school boards.
