Holiday classic heads back to opera house

Camden — Tickets are on sale for a heart-warming, one-weekend-only stage adaptation of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” at the Camden Opera House, Elm Street/Route. Performances will be Friday and Saturday, Dec. 14 and 15 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 16 at 2:30 p.m.

Award-winning scenic designer and director John Bielenberg of Belfast created this innovative, musically-spirited production. John Burstein (also known as Slim Goodbody) returns in a spell-binding performance as Scrooge. Paul Hodgson, artistic director of Everyman Repertory Theater, is breathing new “life” into the ghost of Marley. Also in the cast are Christine West, Jay Rosenberg, Jeff Spera, Ilianna Kahn, Scott Anthony Smith, Mikaila Gould, Robin Jones, Leah Cook Smith, Kathryn Snyder and Audrey Lane. Joani Mitchell will provide the musical accompaniment.

Special pre-show performances will be presented by choruses from Hope Middle School on Friday night and by Lincolnville Middle School on Saturday night. Joining the production from the Bay Chamber Community Music School will be Leah Winchenbach and Lucas Fisher.
