Belfast — The Friday Night Flicks series at Belfast Free Library, 106 High St., invites everyone to get into the holiday spirit with three entertaining holiday treats. All of the films are presented in the library's Abbott Room, free of charge, beginning at 7 p.m.

Getting the festivities underway Dec. 13 will be “Love Actually.” A new holiday classic set in the weeks leading up to Christmas in England and France, “Love Actually” weaves together several stories of love in its various forms. It features an all-star cast that includes Liam Neeson, Emma Thompson, Alan Rickman, Laura Linney, Hugh Grant, Keira Knightly and Billy Bob Thornton.

The Dec. 20 selection serves up more traditional holiday fare in “White Christmas.” Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye star in this perennial Christmas favorite as a pair of veterans turned showmen, who use the occasion of the holiday to help out their former general save his Vermont inn — all to the tune of a great Irving Berlin soundtrack.

To brighten up the days between Christmas and New Year's Eve, Friday Night Flicks will screen “Elf,” the hilarious tale of Buddy (Will Ferrell), a human baby raised as one of Santa's helpers. Grown up, he attempts to return to the world of humans, spreading both chaos and Christmas cheer. Bob Newhart and Ed Asner give charming supporting performances in this delightful comedy.
