Paintings by Jill Hoy are featured this summer at Lincolnville Fine Art Gallery.

Lincolnville Beach — Lincolnville Fine Art Gallery on Route 1 is showing paintings by Jill Hoy of Stonington. Hoy, whose artist husband Jon Imber died this spring of ALS and is the subject of a recent documentary, earned a BFA from the University of California and attended the New Your Academy of Art in New York.

Hoy divides her time between Somerville, Mass., and Stonington, where she paints local scenes. She considers the quality of light to be an important element of her work.

"The light in Maine is crystal clear, with a sharp-edged clarity and a gem-like quality. I often work in the morning or late afternoon when these qualities are especially strong," she said.

Lincolnville Fine Art Gallery is open daily and also by appointment. For more information, call Dwight Wass at 789-5000 or visit lincolnvillefineartgallery.com.
