Huskies claw past Mustangs, roar to 4-0 recordAxsom scores two touchdowns, Saucier adds score for Mount View
Pittsfield — With time winding down in the first half Friday night, Sept. 27, the Mount View football team was down — but not out — against host Maine Central Institute, trailing 21-6 in the Eastern Class D clash.
Then, in the blink of an eye, said Mustang coach Harold "Haggie" Pratt, “the wheels came off the wagon.”
The Huskies (4-0) scored 21 points in the next five minutes and the 'Stangs (2-2) never recovered as they dropped a 67-18 decision to the hosts.
Mount View trailed 42-12 at the half and “got rattled” after they fell behind early, said Pratt.
The Mustangs mustered only 217 yards of total offense against the Huskies.
Jack Axsom rushed for two touchdowns in the loss, while Trevor Saucier had four catches for 92 yards and a touchdown for the Thorndike-based Mustangs.
Chris Spaulding led the Mount View defense with eight tackles.
