Jonathan Fulford announces candidacy for State SenateLongtime small business owner from Monroe to build 'strong local economy'
Jonathan Fulford (D-Monroe) recently announced his candidacy for Senate District 11, which covers all of Waldo County. Fulford is a carpenter and has owned and operated Artisan Builders in Belfast for 26 years.
"As a father and grandfather, I am committed to building a strong local economy so we can all find good work and so our children don’t have to move out of state to find a job," said Fulford. "I believe we need leaders in Augusta who don’t give tax breaks to the rich when the state can’t even pay its bills, and I want to make sure there will be a healthy and beautiful planet for my grandchildren to grow up in."
Fulford has worked as a paper boy, camp counselor, farm hand, apple picker, apple pruner, house painter and carpenter. He moved to Maine when he was 18 and has lived in Monroe since 1982. He and Christine Yentes have four grown children and three grandchildren, all of whom live in Waldo County.
