Juried art show awards, plus a Pop-Up
Belfast — This month’s juried art show at Belfast Free Library, 106 High St., will have a public reception and awards ceremony Saturday, Aug. 16, beginning 6:30 p.m. There will be music, refreshments and a pop-up art show to benefit Hospice Volunteers of Waldo County.
Jurors were artist David Estey, sculptor Kimberly Callas and photographer Kevin Johnson. Eighty pieces of art work were submitted. All the award-winning art will be for sale and displayed. In addition, the library’s Abbott Room will host an invitational Pop-Up Gallery of work by show of accomplished and award-winning Midcoast artists including Daniel Anselmi, Kenny Cole, Kerstin Engman, Richard Mann, Abbie Read, Alison Rector, Willy Reddick and many more.
Internationally renowned artist Harold Garde will be an honored guest; the library’s Barbara Kramer Gallery was named for his late wife, who received hospice care. Kristin Burkholder will be the evening’s emcee and musician Clayton Clemetson will perform his original compositions.
All the art work will be for sale, with 50 percent of the proceeds going to Hospice Volunteers of Waldo County, which provides non-medical support to patients and families facing a terminal illness; and bereavement support to anyone in the community who has suffered the loss of a loved one. All services are always free of charge.
The artist reception and award ceremony is free and open to the public. Delicious food and libations are generously provided by La Vida, The Front Street Pub and Delvinos. This event is sponsored by Camden National Bank, Front Street Ship Yard, Robbins Lumber and EBS Building Supplies. Media sponsor is BelfastCreativeCoalition.org.
