Kerasote speaks on canine longevity
Belfast — Left Bank Books, 109 Church St., will host popular dog enthusiast and author Ted Kerasote Wednesday, Aug. 28, at 7 p.m. He will talk about his newest book, “Pukka's Promise: The Quest for Longer-Lived Dogs.” Seating is limited; reserved seating or signed books may be obtained by calling 338-9009.
Kerasote is well-known for his bestselling book “Merle's Door,” in which he invites readers inside the mind of his beloved four-legged companion Merle, an unforgettable free spirit. The new book introduces Kerasote's carefully sought next dog, Pukka, and it is easy to understand his owner's motivation in researching how to maximize a dog's life expectancy.
In an adventure that echoes “The Omnivore's Dilemma,” with a canine twist, Kerasote takes on the subjects of how we feed, vaccinate, train and live with our dogs as opposed to decades ago. He examines the latest research and asks careful questions about breeding practices, spaying and neutering, and food choices which influence a dog's lifespan, all the while weaving in stories of life with Pukka in a small Wyoming village.
