Knox Town News
News...There is not much for news this week as I have not heard from anyone or heard of much going on except for this weekend. I previously reported the Knox Grange Supper Saturday night 4:30-6 pm. The Maine Shooters 2 pm at the Larrabee arena. They will be doing a demonstration on horseback. This sounds interesting. It is only $3.00 admission. Come on down and join in. Holly Ingraham will be there with her " Born To Ride " kids.
Work in Progress
They are cutting the timber in the Larrabee field at the end of this road. They have been clearing, and chipping for a while now. JoAnne and I rode up to take a look, as I was curious what was going on up there. I see also that the DOT is working on the big bridge at Half Moon Stream as it apparently has washed away the soil from underneath. They have equipment down there working on it. It looks like they have been real busy there.
I see Bill and Jackie Bryant's new home and garage is coming along good now too. I am sure they are anxious to get it done. They have got the metal roof on since I went past it.
A very Happy Birthday to the waitress at Ridgetop, Gerry Clark. Hope you have a great day. A Happy Birthday also to Diane Jones. She is the owner at Ridgetop, and along with Paul they run the restaurant. Stop by for some home cooked food.
I send condolences to the family of Wesley Richardson. Wes was a classmate of mine and others in the area, 1960. A friend comes to mind, Norman Moulton, as they were good friends. Rest in Peace Wes, we will remember you.
I would like to wish Mike and Tanya Braley a very Happy 10th Anniversary today, Friday .I hope you have many more.
Birthday and Anniversary
Happy Birthday to Shawn Turner Aug. 18th. Happy 12th Anniversary to Shawn and Melissa Turner Aug. 18th. Enjoy your day.
Happy Birthday wishes to neighbors, Punkey and Buddy Giggey... I know you are a little older than her, right???Today is their day.
Happy 7th Birthday to my great granddaughter, Natashah Wood. Hope you have a very good day. Grammie loves you.
I was in Bangor Thursday. I met up with my granddaughter Alialin, and we went to lunch at Kobe's Restaurant. It is Japanese cooking and they cook your meal on the grill as you watch. Very interesting and the Chef was awesome. He did a few tricks, cooked our shrimp and chicken and it was delicious. I really enjoyed that adventure. I visited a while with Ali and Tre at their new apartment in town.
Ali had been working at the office of Adoptive and Foster Children in Old Town. She purchased a back pack and school supplies for the kids. Our Ladies Auxiliary does this project too. Thanks Ali it is most appreciated. They need school supplies and such for the kids. Several of the ladies donate and we fill the back packs.
Bob and I ventured to the farm in Warren on Sunday to visit Lin. He is doing good. Has been busy working. Six of the guys unloaded a tractor trailer of food for the Knox County food pantries today. I remember those days.
Until next week,
There is not much to report today. I am later than usual reporting this. I have been busy with Darolyn getting old photos of the Walkers and Stewarts together to show for the Frye Mt. Tour of the Knox end. I have one of the school children of the Carter School on Frye Mt. with the teacher Lucie Waterman. And there is also two other ladies that must have been teachers too. I am hoping Warren Belgard and Hartley Curtis can tell me who else is in the picture. I recognized Shirley, Elsie, Evelyn, and Margene Stewart. I also knew Virginia and Roland Stewart. There are more but I have no idea who they are. Shirley was born 1919, so the rest are younger than she. I hope we can identify them.
I hope to find more photos of the homesteads as well as people for the Tour Album. Please if you have photos let us copy them.
Have a great week, and enjoy this nice spell of good weather. Get some fresh veggies. They have all kinds at the farm stands if you do not have a garden.
Lost Collie Dog Dakota
Yes, poor Dakota is still missing in action. He was perhaps spotted in Vassalboro recently. His owners are planning to go check the area near the cemetery for him, and it's near a horse farm. Maybe he will show up very soon after all. He was in Knox here in town when he disappeared. There is a Reward for him.
On Sunday I was invited to attend David's 8th Birthday party. He had 7 little friends at his home to swim in the pool, and play on the trampoline. He got all kinds of gifts. They all enjoyed pizza ,and icecream cake .Happy Birthday D-Train.
