Hello Everyone,

It has been another humid filled days this week....Oh I hate that...but like summer so much. I have to believe we need it for some reason, but cannot imagine why...It has now gotten nice out since the rain we got. We did not get the lightning that was forecast here. That was a relief too. Some of my neighbors are deathly afraid.

Knox Appeals Board Met

The first time this Board met was Thursday night at 6 pm. Attending were Roy Greeley, Ken Kupferman, and myself. CEO David Schofield was there as well. He had the permit, and necessary paperwork. We passed this permit with setback being what it was.

This weekend Events: July 26th

Cassandra and Fred Thompson's Benefit at Bowen's Tavern. 12 Noon, Yard Sale and Bake Sale. 4 pm Dinner, 7 pm Dance. No children after 7. Motorcycle Bike Ride 9 am. Silent Auction. Come out and help this young family.

Sat. 11 am--- Michael Jackson Flash Mob at Belfast Harbor....Video in progress.

Sat., Mustang Youth Football Clinic  Sign Up...1-4 pm Larrabee Field...Info- Amy at 592-1482.

Sunday- July 27th...1 pm...Mid Coast Falcons vs N.H. Timberwolves. Larrabee Field Knox.

July 27th  Sun. Walker School Reunion 10:30 am starts...At Liberty Masonic Hall. Contact Edna Mitchell for info.

Karaoke---July 30th 5-8 pm at Brooks Park Boosters Field in town. Free for all. Holly Parker is the DJ...Come on out if you like to sing. Have fun !!!

August Events Coming up---

Aug. 2nd " Country Gold ", Warm Waldo Fundraiser at Jackson Comm. Center at 3 pm. Raising funds for your neighbors to help with heating costs this winter.

Knox Boosters Club---Slow Pitch Softball Tournament Aug. 2nd Starts 8 am., 12 Teams on the Roster. Larrabee Field, Raising Funds to finish getting lighted fields for night games. Come on out to watch some good softball.

Knox Boosters Club/ Chop Chip Carnival 12 Noon Aug. 2nd

Proceeds to benefit the construction and continued maintenance of Larrabee Field...The Winner of the Cow Chip will receive $ 200.00. They have been working on getting lights for the field for night games. Come play Softball, and watch the Teams get into the spirit !! Having Fun here in Knox with your friends, and neighbors ..

On Sunday, Aug. 3rd MID COAST FALCONS vs TWIN CITY RIOT 1 pm at Larrabee Field, Knox. Some good Football...

The Mustang Youth Football Kids are still accepting  Bottles For Their Bottle Drive, and will pick-up locally.

Bangor Fair Is On

The local 4-H Kids and Dairy club kids are at Bangor Fair showing their cows. Recently the Schofield kids won ribbons showing their Jersey cows. Congrats !! Get Well soon Shaynen!!!

Special Birthday Lady In Town

Aug. 3rd is also the Birthday Bash to celebrate Marjorie Larrabee's 95th  Birthday at the Farm. The Larrabee Center, Quonset Hut Building.  12 noon. Bring along your favorite Memories to share. Or mail them to 8 Oakes Rd. Knox, Me. 04986 She is a lovely, very active lady. You will see her at Knox Grange working the table getting your meal tickets. They serve delicious meals, and I know that Lemon Meringue Pie, she made it...Yummy!!

Aug. 2nd--- 5th Annual Bowenfest / 3rd Annual Greg Bowen Memorial Ride 8 am Register, 10 am Kickstands up. Burn Out Contest at Unity Raceway ( on the way ). Trophies, and Free Tire to the Winner. Chicken BBQ...Held at Bowen's Tavern. This benefit's someone in the Community.

Montville Field Day

Coming up our next door neighbors Field Day is August 9th, see Montville News for info.

Montville Kingdom School

The School is open on Monday nights from 6-8 pm through the month of August. The Waldo County Exhibit from Penobscot Marine Museum is on display. Info.589-4760.

Frye Mt. Walking Tour

The Walking Tour planned by the Montville Historical Society is Sunday, Oct. 12th, and is being led by Ralph Wood. He and several others are doing this tour. This is sure to be very interesting, with history about the area on what Ralph calls the front side of the Mt., toward the Morrill side.

Freedom Academy and Unity-Freedom Reunion

Aug. 17th 11 am Registration. Unity Masonic Hall Catered by Rita from UHOP. Guest speakers, Retired Game Warden, John Ford, Sr. and Retired Me. State Trooper, Mark Nickerson. They will be telling of their true stories from their profession. It is going to keep you laughing. They will be bringing along some of their books to autograph. Join in for some good humor and fun. Fall Conference

The American Legion and Auxiliary Conference will be Sept. 20-21, not the date from last week.I had it wrong.

Here's Wishing Bobby Welch a speedy recovery from his broken nose.

Speedy Get Well

Hoping Penny Picard Sampson has a speedy recovery from all the surgery she has had. She will be having rehab soon, and hopefully get home soon. Miss your Friday Facebook posts.

Unity Raceway

The Races will be held August 17th. Let's support Nick. He needs to get the Grandstand full again. They have the racing schedule all set. There is going to be Golf Cart Races too. No Fireworks.

Belfast Army/Navy Store Close Out Sale

The Army/Navy Store contents have been moved to Rt.1 at the Ole Ice Cream Barn building Mullen's place. Open  Mon. Tues. and Thurs. 10- 8 pm. Closed Wed .Open Fri. Sat. Sun. 10-9 pm...Gabe loved that place, and got to go and check it out Thursday. He was disappointed it closed down town. Pat Wood is there for your wants, or just to look around. Lots of stuff.

Fort Knox Adventure

Gabe, his Mom April, and brother, Myrek, and Randy along with Randy's Mom Tody, and Norm all ventured to Fort Knox on Saturday. They had the Civil War- Reenactment.   Gabe loves this performance. They went up into the lookout of the Penobscot Narrow's Bridge. This is a long ways up. They all enjoyed a picnic afterwards. Guess I should have gone.

Knox Grange

The next Public  Supper is Aug. 16th, Roast Turkey with all the trimmings.

Until Next Week,

Have a great week. The veggies are getting plentiful now. We have had green beans, cukes, and greens. The potatoes are ready, and summer squash. Seems good to be able to stop at the Farmer's Market. I have my barrel planted with cuke plants. Thanks Lily for the summer squash, and cukes.

Losing My Column to Cyberspace ?? Mystery ??

Just lost all most all of my news off from here. Cannot understand why it says I can't post to publish it.. or update it again....very frustrating...will never figure it out !!!! Takes me forever to type it up again...column  gets shorter....Stay tuned.
