KNOX TOWN NEWS
News from the Town Office:
The Assessors will be in session on Saturday, April 1st from 10 AM-3 PM at the Town Office for any taxpayers that wish to meet with them.
I did not attend Town Meeting so do not know how that went. No info yet.
The Pleasant Hill Cemetery Association will meet on Tuesday, April 11th at 6:30 PM. This is for directors, lot holders, or representatives thereof. Meeting at Freedom Town Hall.
Helen Farrar has graciously donated a beautiful Quilt for our Raffle. Tickets will be available soon for this. Thanks so much Helen !! We hope to do well with this for our fund raising efforts to do up keep at the Cemetery. Plans are also in the works for a Chicken BBQ around Memorial Day, as well. More on this after our meeting, and our newsletter comes out.
On The Trail Again...
Unity Pond Pottery's Espo and his cousin Michael are back on the Applachian Trail again. He had injured his knee, and was held up, at the Hiawassee Hostel in Georgia. Both had knee problems. I hope after resting, healing, and getting back at it he heals well. Good Luck to both of them. Look for him on Unity Pond Pottery site on facebook. This will be a 6 months adventure.
I am wishing Jerry Parker good health. He has been sick with pneumonia. Get better quick.

Debbie Penney has announced her new grandson, Colton Carl Dakin born to Jennifer Bailey and Scott Dakin. He was born at Waldo County General Hospital. He weighed 6 lbs.1 oz. Congrats to all. There is more relatives here in Town, too.
For those asking me, the babies are coming along good now, and doing fine. Amber and Travis, and big sister, Ashlynn are enjoying them all.
Get Well to the Ole Farmer
Get well wishes go out to Mike Ingraham who has suffered a stroke, but is doing fine from it. Now he needs to get better soon.

There will be a Spaghetti Supper for Clayton and Nonie Larrabee on Saturday April 1st at the Mt. View Cafe at MVHS. 5 PM. Pasta, Salad, Rolls, Desserts, Drinks. Desserts by the Born To Ride Club, Brownies and Cookies. Cash Raffle. Auction of Pies, and Cakes, or Desserts. Please wrap for, to go. Sounds like a good time. Come on out to eat.

Upcoming Book Signing Local Author
Local Author Kim Jacobs will be at the Marsh River Cooperative on Friday, March 31st at 4-6 PM with her book, "Princess Sophie and The Six Swans " for a book launch and signing party. All welcome.
The Doughty fellars, Wayne and sons, Cody and David ventured up North to Caribou Convention Center and were out snowmobiling this week. St. Agatha, Long Lake, and had a good time on the trails in the area.
Happy 1st Birthday on Saturday, March 18th to little Skylar Mae Dyer, daughter of Jill Raven and Rick Dyer.
Vintage Snowmobile Races in Hermon
The Doughty Boys, Darren, Rob and Damien Doughty were racing on Saturday. Damien won 1st Place in the Teen Class with his first race ever. Rob Doughty, won 1st in the 340 stock class, 2nd in the 440 stock class, and 3rd place in the Open Class. Darren did not place. Better luck next time Darren. Congrats guys. There was a good crowd there.
Waldo District Derby
The Pinewood Derby Car Race was held at the Ames School in Searsmont. Packs were 233, 234, 235, 30, 35,and 39. The top three were 1st, Sulley Bryant Pack 35, time 2.87, 2nd Austin Ames Pack 35, time 2.89, 3rd Chase Weaver Pack 233, time 2.90, and 6th Place Shawn Kenney Pack 30, time 2.93. Behind them were Adam Taylor, fourth, Pack 35, time 2.911; Ian Cottrell, fifth, Pack 235, time 2.914; Shawn Kenney, sixth, Pack 30, time 2.93; Brandan Flood, seventh, Pack 30, time 2.944; Gage Ward, eighth, Pack 234, time 2.952; Sullivan Knapp, ninth, Pack 234, time 2.958; and Chris Taylor, Pack 30, 10th, time 2.956. Congrats to all the youngsters. Thanks to all the leaders who make this possible.
Montville Fire Dept.
A big Thanks to all who attended the St. Patrick's Day Corn Beef Supper and supported the Fire Dept. Winner of the 50/50 was Joe Thornley, and Door Prize was Russell Prime. Over 50 dinners were served by the members and kitchen help. I had my first Irish Soda Bread and the meal was very nice. Thanks !! Got to visit with some friends as well.
Community Upcoming Benefit
On Wednesday, March 22nd at 5-7 PM there will be a Benefit Pot Luck Supper for Sandra Edgecomb at the Liberty Community Center in Liberty on Rt. 220. Please bring a Dish, and join in for a hot meal. She is battling cancer and could use the support from all. I got to meet her last Fall, and what a pleasant lady. Come on out, and this is hosted by Tammy Reynolds...
Waldo County 4-H Program
An invitation for families to come explore what 4-H has to offer through their intro to 4-H Day 9-12 Noon on Saturday, April 8th. Call the UM Extension Office 342-5971 for further info. Pre-registration is required. This will be held at Pleasant View Stable on 350 Belfast Rd. Extended afternoon sessions offered through the Rural Living Day Event.
The 23rd Annual Rural Living Day
Saturday April 8th 8:3-3:45 PM at MVHS Register online Donation of $20.00 for classes and lunch. Deadline is April 7th to register until classes fill up or whichever comes first. I read the list of classes, and there is much offered. This is on facebook as well. Most events can be found on Facebook now a days.
