Knox Town News
It's sure cold out there
We are getting some of Old Mother Nature's cold winter weather. We managed to survive the New Year's ball drop in NYC, and now back to our normal routine trying to keep warm. Thanks to our snow plowing team, Shawn, Bubba, Todd and Eric, for keeping our roads plowed and sanded real well for us. You guys are doing a great job.
From the Town Office
The dog licenses are due now for all the unlicensed dogs. Need to get them licensed before Jan. 31 or the fine is $25 per dog. They were due Dec. 31. Call the Town Office for any info 568-3907.
Alumni vs. Alumni
This Saturday, Jan. 5, at Mount View High School is where the action will be. Starting at 6 p.m., the alumni women will play each other with two teams. The alumni men will be at 8 p.m. with two teams. Basketball is going be under way full force. You don't want to miss this night, for sure. There will be alumni cheerleaders, pep band and chamber singers, too. The big raffle will be drawn for the four-wheeler, riding lawn mower, chainsaw and gear, along with many other great prizes.
Friday night supper
A benefit supper in memory of George Seeley and Don Bonney will be held at Belfast Legion Post 43 at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11. Please call 338-1202 if you wish to attend, as they need to know what you wish from the menu to get a count. The bartender has tickets, and will take your info. Menu choices include rib-eye steak, seafood Newburgh, and chicken Parmesan. See you there. George was very active in The American Legion, and his wish was for the kitchen to be remodeled. He also was active in raising funds for Maine Blind Camp, and Special Olympics as well, with his wife, Betty.
"Mr. Special Olympics" himself, Mickey Boutillier, passed away recently. He was the person who did so much for camp for the Olympians. He will be missed.
We extend our sympathy to the family of baby Dylan Hopkins Jr., 8 days old, who recently passed away. He was the son of Dylan and Melissa. Thinking of you, Renee and Carl, and Terri and Fred. Our prayers are with all of you.
Be careful if you go out on the ice. Use extreme caution. Make sure it is safe before you venture out. There was no news called in to me. So that being said, please share any newsworthy items you may have with the readers of TRJ..
To all the snowbirds, please think of us in this real cold weather. The Knox Historical Calendars are out and for sale now. Please get yours now. Thanks.
