Get well

A get-well message to Clayton Larrabee, who recently had hip replacement surgery, and seems to be on the mend. We met at his home for our Knox Historical meeting on Monday night. He has plans to have another horse and oxen pull. We are trying to raise money to move the old East Knox School up by Shirley Bessey's place.

Flu season

The CDC is advising people to get a flu shot, as all three strains of influenza are circulating at this time. Lots of people are very sick from it.The levels are high, so be safe and get a shot.

Mount View alumni game

The games were pretty good. The ladies' green team won over the younger team, 40-28. Miranda Doughty was really playing a great game. She snapped two 3-point shots like it was nothing at all. She had more points as well. Great going to all the ladies. The men's game, the younger guys won, 58-37. They had a good game, although it got a little rough. Winning the four-wheeler was Lucky Skidgell, lawn mower was won by  Hunter Tibbetts, the chainsaw and goodies went to Roger Parker. I didn't get names for the other prize winners. There was a real good crowd that attended. The cheerleaders from years past were pretty good as well.                                                                                                                                                                                  Gas prices

The prices of gas at the pumps here in town is at $3.57. I like to keep posting this so when we look back from time to time we can compare it.

Lunch date

I went to Bangor today and visited with my granddaughter Ali and her friend Tre. We all went to Seasons Restaurant on Main Street to eat lunch. Ali works there, it is a nice place.

Benefit dinner and auction

On Feb. 2, a benefit is being planned by family and friends for Ellie Bryant Elwell. She grew up in Knox, the daughter of Omar and Lila Raven Bryant. It will be a dinner from 4-6 p.m. with a free-will donation, and an auction starting at 6 p.m. sharp. It will be held at the Jackson Community Center on Jackson Village Road.

If anyone has items to donate call, 722-3205 or 722-3373. They are looking for a big crowd. Bring your money, bid high, and bid often to help out a good cause, folks. The snow date is Feb. 3. They are asking for hot dishes as well. Cindy can tell you who to call on the food. Ellie is battling cancer, let's help her out.
