Benefit supper and auction
Don't forget the nice meal and auction being planned for Ellie Bryant Elwell at the Jackson Community Building Saturday, Feb. 2, 4-6 p.m. and the auction at 6 p.m. sharp. This sounds like a lot of fun as well. Bring your money, folks, and you may be able to get some good items at the auction. That in itself sounds like it will be fun. Bid 'em right up there... Hope to see you there.
The pancake breakfast is this Saturday at Unity House of Pizza at 8 a.m. This supports the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer.. It is only $5. Come and have breakfast and meet some friends.
A reminder that the Homestead Restaurant will reopen Feb. 1. Come on out and meet the owners. They will be serving up some mighty fine food.
Lack of news
There is not much to report this week, as I have not heard from anyone. Other than folks trying to keep warm in this below-zero weather, there is not much excitement here. The High School is busy with Basketball. Most everyone I am sure is trying to keep warm. Keep that water trickling to keep from having frozen pipes.
I had the honor of serving as the Department of Maine sergeant at arms at our winter meeting of the American Legion Auxiliary on Saturday. We had about 80 ladies who attended. Four junior girls were also a part of the meeting. This was held at Post #5 in Waterville.
I hope that Tanya Drew Braley had a nice birthday on Jan. 24. A belated happy birthday to you!
Keep watch on anyone lurking around in your neighborhood, as burglars are on the prowl to steal your things from your home. Report anyone who looks suspicious. Beware if someone comes to your home or is in your home looking for someone, they may be there to try to rob you. Please be careful, safety first. Is it coming to the point that we have to have security systems installed? Or do we all have to get a ferocious dog? The Neighborhood Watch is a good start.
I am sending sympathy to the family of Franklin "Frankie" Larrabee of town and Oak Grove Center, Waterville, who passed away recently. He will be remembered for his love of horse-racing, and his plumbing abilities.
Another great lady has passed away. Edie Banks of Belfast recently left this world. I met her at the Belfast Legion, and she was a wonderful lady. She will be missed by all who knew her. Sympathy to her family.
Rob and Miranda Doughty still have one little pitbull puppy left looking for a good home. Get in touch with them if you are interested. He's had his shots and is 8 weeks old now. So cute!
In closing, stay warm. Smile, it is good for the soul!
