Last call for Festival of Art entries
Belfast — Senior College at Belfast invites all Maine artists 50 years of age and older, amateur and professional, to participate in this year’s Festival of Art event in May. The registration period for artists runs through Monday, March 31.
For the past 11 years, this four-day exhibit has included work from new artists who have never shown before; well-known accomplished artists whose work continues to astound; and artists who are striving to build their reputations, as well as those who only wish to share their work with an appreciative audience. At times, there have been as many as 170 artists participating in this event and more than 1,000 visitors to the exhibit. Artists also have an opportunity to sell their work, if they wish.
The types of art submitted vary extensively and have included paintings, sculptures, woodcarvings, jewelry, fabric arts, pottery and photography, as a few examples. Registration materials and information may be requested from firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling Juliane Dow on her cellphone at (857) 719-6733.
The 12th annual Festival of Art will run Thursday through Sunday, May 15 through 18, at the University of Maine’s Hutchinson Center, 80 Belmont Ave./Route 3. Admission is free and open to the public; all are welcome. Renowned Belfast painter, printmaker and teacher Harold Garde will be the subject of the festival’s featured presentation.
