Learn "mindful leadership" in UMaine Hutchinson workshop
Belfast — A two-day workshop focused on mindfulness in daily work life will be offered this spring at the University of Maine Hutchinson Center at 80 Belmont Ave., Belfast.
In the Mindful Leadership workshop, to be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. April 28 and May 12, attendees can practice mindfulness meditation, learn competencies of mindful leadership and discuss strategies for being calmer, more clear-minded and emotionally aware in the workplace.
Mindful Leadership will introduce practical ways, tools and techniques for bringing mindfulness to daily work life, based on the work of authors Rasmus Hougaard, “One Second Ahead; Enhance the Performance at Work with Mindfulness,” and Janet Marturano, “Creating the Space to Lead.” Each class
will practice mindfulness meditation and discuss guidelines for changing how we think about people, ourselves, and things in the workplace toward being
more calm, clear-minded, and emotionally aware.
Mary Doyle, M.A., R.N., will be the facilitator. She earned a graduate degree in organizational development from Emerson College, a bachelor’s degree in human nutrition from the University of Maine and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Southern Maine.
Doyle is qualified as a Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction teacher by the University of California, San Diego Center for Mindfulness. She has additional MBSR teacher training from Bangor University in the United Kingdom.
