Stockton Springs — The Stockton Springs Community Library held its fourth annual afternoon tea fundraiser Sunday, Sept. 9. According to Library Director Pat Curley, the event was very successful, with a total of almost 100 people attending the two seatings. To accommodate the overflow crowd, an extra large table was added in the upstairs audio room for both seatings.

Curley said the event is entirely produced and staffed by library volunteers. Indeed, she said the original idea for the event came from Janice Capano, who has chaired the tea each year since its inception.

The volunteers prepare sandwiches and baked goods, arrange them on plates and serve as waiters during the event. They also staff the boutique held during the tea where patrons can purchase various items — also made and donated by the volunteers.

Besides the tea and boutique, this year's event featured a raffle for a 10-room Colonial-style dollhouse as an extra fundraiser.

In all, $5,162 was raised in support of library programs.
