Lions card first win, 'Stangs remain winless

The Belfast and Mount View high school golf teams have been busy on the links in recent days as each squad was in action Tuesday, Sept. 2, and Thursday, Sept. 4.

The Lions fell to Maine Central Institute of Pittsfield 8-1 Thursday and bested Waterville 6-3 Tuesday in a pair of home matches at Northport Golf Club, while the Mustangs lost to Camden Hills 9-0 at the Samoset Resort Thursday and fell to Medomak Valley Tuesday at Country View Golf Course in Brooks.

The following is a recap of those matches:

Maine Central Institute 8, Belfast 1

At the par-36 Northport Golf Club in Northport Sept. 4, the Huskies remained unbeaten as they bested the host Lions. MCI finished with a four-golfer, nine-hole team stroke total of 157 to 194 for Belfast.

The individual results, with Belfast golfers listed first, were: Alex Fritz (45) lost to Gavin Dugas (38); Zach Alden (51) lost to Carter Pearl (36); Doyle Bailey (54) lost to Eric Dugas (38); Alex Ling (71) lost to Parker Morrison (48); Jessica Clapp (65) lost to Nate Tilton (45); and Artem Richter (44) beat Seth Mason (45).

Pearl was the medalist with a 36.

Camden Hills 9, Mount View 0

At the par-36 Samoset Resort in Rockport Sept. 4, the Windjammers bounced back from their first loss since 2012 as they sailed past the visiting Mustangs. Camden Hills finished with a four-golfer, nine-hole team stroke total of 155 to 236 for Mount View.

The individual results, with Camden Hills golfers listed first, were: Daulton Wickenden (38) beat Ross DeLorenzo (53), 5&4; Julian Starbird (43) beat Cassidy Gerrish (61), 5&4; Drew Long (41) beat Stephen Koller (77), 5&4; Jared Garske (41) beat Bo Curtis (60), 5&4; Casey Rouleau (39) beat Jacob Rose (62), 5&4; and Drew Holt (37) beat Kasey Roberts (69), 5&4.

Holt was the medalist with a 37.

Belfast 6, Waterville 3

At the par-36 Northport Golf Club in Northport Sept. 2, the Lions picked up their first win of the young season with a triumph over the Purple Panthers. Belfast finished with a four-golfer, nine-hole team stroke total of 190 to 207 for Waterville.

The individual results, with Belfast golfers listed first, were: Alex Fritz (40) beat Adam Barre (50); Zach Alden (42) beat C.J. Gaunce (49); Doyle Bailey (53) beat Keaton Lahnaman (55); Alex Lind (55) lost to Adam Zarfos (53); Jessica Clapp (60) lost to Alex Maheaux (55); and Alexia Sweet (65) lost to John Violette (56).

Fritz was the medalist with 40.

Medomak Valley 7, Mount View 2

At the par-36 Country View Golf Club in Brooks Sept. 2, the Panthers emerged victorious over the host Mustangs. Medomak Valley finished with a four-golfer, nine-hole team stroke total of 205 to 208 for Mount View.

The individual results, with Medomak Valley golfers listed first, were: Adam Wilcox (51) lost to Ross DeLorenzo (36); Aaron Smeltzer (50) beat Bo Curtis (60); Tyler Emerson (53) beat Cassidy Gerrish (57); Brent Stewart (63) lost to Kasey Roberts (71); Josh Goldrup (78) lost to Stephen Koller (55); and Duncan Morrell (51) lost to Jacob Rose (62).

Delorenzo was the medalist with 36.
