Lions split with Warriors, Shipbuilders in Jan. 9 meet

Belfast — On the heels of an impressive team performance at the Spartan Invitation Wrestling tournament, the Belfast wrestling team got back to work Jan. 9, hosting a three-team meet with Nokomis and Morse of Bath.

The Lions were nipped 38-36 by the Warriors, but took their frustrations out on the Shipbuilders with a 45-21 win.

Individual results from the Jan. 9 meet, with Lions listed first, were:

120 pounds — Alec Young lost by technical fall to Tehran Booth, Nok.

126 pounds — Brandon Waterman won by forfeit over Nokomis.

132 pounds — Walker Roberts lost by decision to Jonathan Crocker, Nok.

138 pounds — Tremmil Groene won by forfeit over Nokomis.

145 pounds — Mike McFadden pinned Matthew Martin, Nok.

152 pounds — Greg Stevens pinned Joshua King, Nok.

160 pounds — John Capella was pinned by Jacob Richards, Nok.

170 pounds — Austin Sprague was pinned by John Wilson, Nok.

195 pounds — Peter Kelley pinned Zach McFarlin, Nok.

220 pounds — Wyatt Roberts won by forfeit over Nokomis.

The individual results for Belfast's win over Morse were unavailable.
